SWV & CeCe Peniston at The Shrine (Chicago)

What a Night! Ce Ce Peniston & SWV performing at the Shrine. It has been 20 years since SWV has performed in Chicago, & they put on a soulful performance. CeCe Peniston was in full effect with her short cut Booty shorts, and spicing the room up with dance moves. The Building was filled to capacity to see these 90’s legends perform.

Something From Nothing THE ART OF RAP (Ice T)

Ice T came sliding through Chicago doing promo for his New Film THE ART OF RAP, a documentary about Hip Hop! The Movie had interviews with everyone from Ice Cube, Chuck D, Redman, & KRS-1 to GrandMaster Caz, Kool Keith, Q Tip & NaS plus Many More!! The Movie comes out in Theaters June 15th, & it’s an Indie film so it won’t be in all the major theaters, so be on the look out and go support this movie. I enjoyed the movie and would like to see it again, there was too much information to take in for one sitting.

Damn Mayer Hawthorne Don’t Hurt’em

So Monday evening I get a text from Filthy Rich, Talking about this Mazda Event concert series, So Since it came from an honorable source and Subterranean only being down the street from my house I figured why not. I get there and I come to find out that Mayer Hawthorne & Gordon Voidwell would be performing that night, I have no clue who either were.

So I arrived at Sub T early like the text suggested & applied  some smooth talk to acquire Vip entry, so I get up upstairs right in time for Mayer’s Meet & Greet. When i think about Neo Soul, A certain picture or figure comes to mind, then I saw Mayer sitting at the Table and I was like Him!!! Interesting!!

About 1/2 way through Gordon Voidwell’s (I will talk about them in another blog) set, I slide downstairs to what the Bulls were doing.  So the Mazda camera crew was using the downstairs bar to interview the fans, while I was watching the bulls I couldn’t help but hear the interviews, from what I was hearing I was totally asleep and was about to be awoken after hearing Mayer Hawthorne. Then the road manager came in wolfing about a bathroom with a sink and mirror, because their tour bus bathroom was broken. Mayer and his band had to freshen up before the show. Mayer came over to the bar and asked for some “Yak” to clear his throat, I was tickled, this was the nerdy kid who was signing autographs an hour earlier, & now he looked like a mix between Buddy Holly & Robin Thicke. After everyone was set they ran upstairs and through the crowd onto the stage, & went straight to work.

People let me them you, Mayer got it in!!! He understands how to put on a good show. Of course I hadn’t heard any of his songs before, but that didn’t stop my head from bobbing up & down. Then he start Singing Some Hall & Oates, And a Micheal Mc Donald classic. By the End of the night, I was truly a fan!!

Concepts By Designs

Concepts By Design is my Brand & Company. It’s been a great 1st year, but let me slow down because the year is not over yet, The news letter will be dropping Soon! I lot of people have no clue as far as what I do! My 1st step is consulting, I always say “People know where they are now which is A & they know where they want to be which is Z, but most people have no clue of how to get from B to Y” I try to understand your focus and help create ideas that would work for you or your Company.

For the last few Years I have been the Metro Rep for EA (Electronic Arts), My focus for EA was a community center program where I was going to Inner City Community Centers & Setting up a fitness program based around the Wii. Because a lot kids are playing video games, but for the most part the kids just sit around the Xbox or PS3. So the Wii was a wonderful way to have these same gamers to interact new titles, and also get some cardio along with the game experience. While working with these community centers around the city I realized that these visual concepts that I was offering could be taken to the next Level.

The Next Level was and now is my TV rentals with Pro Stands. I was trying to rent out TV’s from places like rent a center & AV chicago, and I discovered it was pretty difficult for the common person to cover the total expenses to make this happen. Currently I rent out TV’s for Artist Meet & Greets, Instead of Mom taking her kids to Chuckie Cheese, they can get Concepts By Design to come with TVs and Projectors and turn your home or Studio in an arcade. Currently things are going pretty good, right now I have added another stitch to my jeans with Video. When I say Video I’m talking about documentaries & on the spot interviews. I realized that I have access to a world people love & adore which is the Record Label industry. So for 2011 I’m trying to step my game up and become a reporter. I live a North side Chicago life and many people have no clue of what that means, so I plan to show the World.

I also need to tell you about the Soul Controller, A Game night that I do at Subterrenean every 2nd & 3rd Wednesday of the Month! It’s a great night the focus is about Lounging, Honestly the Clubs involve so much pressure. The Music isn’t being pounded to make every eardrum explode. The music is being played so you can hear others speak. We are playing Video Games, don’t you want to talk some smack to your guy or gal while you play Wii Bowling, Madden, SSf4 or 2k basketball. We offer $5.00 pitchers of Beer as a recession buster. Usually I have 4 screens split up between PS3’s, Xbox’s, & Wii’s.

I felt I needed to explain what i do, considering people always know me, but just have no clue as to what I do.

This week has been one of the hardest weeks for me to deal with, as my closest ally & friend appears to be sick, she doesn’t have the strength to eat and is having a problem as far walking! For most part I may be crazy because I write about my cat Janet. Janet has been with me for 16 years, I’ve had Janet since she was four weeks old.  I’m at a serious lost right now, because this Animal is an anchor for my spirit & soul! I haven’t experienced any deaths in my immediate family, but the thought of my kitten leaving me is terrifying!!

 

I wrote that right before we took Janet to the hospital, we took J to an ER vet www.chicagoveterinaryemergency.com/ 3123 n Clybourn (Belmont/Western).

Veronika & I entered with Janet cradled in my arms by now J is Restless (She hates car rides).  It took me back, when we entered the center, I instantly flashed back to my childhood when I would have asthma attacks in the middle of the night and Mom’s would run me to Children’s Memorial Hospital.  As we entered a clerk came to us and wanted to understand what was wrong with Janet, she instantly took us to a room and brought a tech in to look at Janet. Once the tech gave J a look over, he requested that a doctor look at J Now! The Doc came in and explained to us what was going on with J and gave us options.

A. Put J Down

B.     Run tests and Understand Completely

C.     Take Her Home and Wait for Her to Die.

 

At this point my mind in blown apart and then the “Dam” broke, the tears were cliff jumping off of my cheeks like we were in New Zealand!!! I had to suck it up for a second to listen to what option A or B would cost. Option A was about a 100 and B was 500 – 800.  My 1^st thought was 800 dollars for REAL!! Then my heart stepped in, if I do these tests do I honestly believe J would be Better? No

If I left J at this Hospital would there be a chance she could die alone? Yes

If I could help it would I allow J to die alone?? NEVER

 

So V & I talked alone with Janet for about 15 minutes and choose Option A.

After we confirmed Option A. They took J for a while and brought her back wired for “Death”, V wanted no part, and waited outside (she had Done this before)! I noticed that J was sedated when she re-entered there were no real movements from her, I tickled her toes a thing she hates and soon had a claw poked into my finger, the response I was desperately looking for, I soon put her paw into my palm and squeezed gently & looked her straight in her eyes and explained what a wonderful journey we had together and I would never be the same in her absence!!! After of a couple minutes of crying & speaking strictly from the heart, I gave the doctor the green light. It happens so quickly as she took a deep breath and her paw went limp within my hand.

I met Janet 16 years ago an acquaintance from work gave her to me when J was about 3 to 4 weeks old. I had to choose between her and her brother, which was an easy choose considering J’s brother was just crying and hissing, and J just sat there just so happy.  After I picked J up and felt her “purr” I was in Love!

Janet was an Important figure in my life. I learned how to Love and be loved from my whisker faced sidekick. I grew up a loner (I had friends but none of them really knew me) who was always shadowed by self-pity & hate.  My Parents had there own worries, and with me being a master of flying under the radar, they never had a clue of what was really going on in my life.

I take children and animals very seriously, because they are Pure, they response off instinct instead of thought, and with that they should be protected.

If you didn’t know by now, but I’m crazy, once the kitten settled into the Seaton household J & me started her Shadow Paw Training. My Kitten was a lone cub, so I became her Sensei. At least one hour out of the day we would fight.

The Hand always won, but young J never gave up, the Hand would get bored and move on, but young J realized when the Hand walked away his ankles were vulnerable, this gave birth to “The Ankle Ninja Kitten” all members of the Seaton Clan ankles were at risk between 6am to 9am for months, the Ninja kitten struck sleepy Clan members walking to the Bathroom or kitchen. “The Hand was Proud”.

My Cat has always been the lady of the house, that person who comes and checks out anyone new into the household. Like: “Ooh Excuse Me, But to Whom Are You??” And if you were a shady character she would just camp out right in front of you till she spooked you out and you wanted to leave.  It was amazing every time a witnessed her do that. My cat read people pretty well; she applied the lock on my relationship with Veronika.  Veronika took me by storm, from the 1^st moment we met and the same with Janet. I figured The Cat & I couldn’t be suckers together, so I agreed that V was the Real thing, and she is and I have kept V close to me ever since.

I could write about my marbled eyed buddy for days, But I have My GREAT memories and Wonderful Pictures!!

You will always be remembered Janet!!

Hey Dude Peace!

It was the last Weekend of the month of June 2010. I couldn’t miss the Peace & Hemp Festival in Lincoln Park just south of the Kids Zoo. Better Known as the Weed Fest! Although there were other good festivals to choose from, like the Puerto Rican Festival was Caliente in Humboldt Park & The Randolph Street Fair is always a blast.

I know the Peace & Hemp festival happened once a year, but I would always hear about it the day after. This year I found out a day before the festival.  The Crowd out there was beautiful black, yellow, brown, & white. Of Course the people who run the festival are old school hippies, but the young kids follow their trail!!

The ages down there were from 10 to 70 years old or so, but 60% of the crowd was 20 to 25 years old. From Skaters, Bmx, Party kids, & Star Children! The rest were Families and Old schoolers enjoying the day!

Because I have Locks, I heard things like Brother Man do you know where I could find that Kind Bud at, Shrooms, Yo Dred got that Grand Daddy Purp for sale, & Etc… Everyone was selling something, from beer, blunts, T-shirts, organic jewelry, candy! The only thing that was free out there was the “Love” Free smiles & laughter!!

There were about 2000 people out there Saturday & Sunday, & the Vibe was all love!  Right in the heart of Lincoln Park, people were drinking & smoking without a police officer in sight.  Each night after the stage shut down at 9pm, the crowd started their own drum circle and kept the party going till they were forced to leave.

There was a lot of Positive Energy floating around the park!!!

Why Do People Hate On Kobe So Much???

What’s Happening People!!

I cannot figure out Y people hate Kobe B. so Much, I live in Chicago, So the Kobe Hate is strong in the Chi.  In Chicago Mike Jordan is King, And Kobe would be the young prince coming to steal his glory!!

1) I always hear Kobe is too arrogant!! Micheal Jordan was Way More Arrogant than Kobe & Probably still is!  I also understand Many people were not old enough to remember MJ Playing & Parting in Chicago, & honestly No one in Chicago cared that Mike was so damn Arrogant, because they were winning!! Do you remember that All Star game where Isiah Thomas and Others from the East All Star Team freeze MJ out, because he needed to learn some respect!!! Finally name a basketball Superstar that isn’t or wasn’t Arrogant about their Skills!!

2) I always hear Kobe is trying to be like Mike, You Think!! At the end of Mike’s Career, Mike started teaching Kobe his post moves! So if I understand correctly, Micheal Jordan thought it was a good idea for Kobe to learn his moves, But the fans feel that Kobe should have told Mike to Fuck off, because who would want to learn from “The Greatest Basketball Player on the Earth” at the time. Just because you are a Hater, doesn’t mean you have to be Stupid!!

I love the game of Basketball, Kobe filled the Basketball God Void that was left open was MJ left the Game! I do not believe Kobe will break MJ’s Regular Season points total because he would have to play like 5 more seasons,  But Kobe will shatter lots of Mike’s Playoff records, Overall Kobe will finish as All Time Points leader in the Playoffs within 2 seasons.

I’m just tired of hearing People Say Kobe Sux!! Considering that by the end of Kobe’s Career, his Overall numbers will stand aside or above Jordan’s Overall numbers. How Can the 2nd greatest Player Sux!!!
